The Daytona Beach Area
Daytona Beach is known as the Worlds most Famous Beach.
Whether you want to drive on the sand or relax in a
secluded place on a "no drive" area, the beach has a spot for you.
At low tide, the beach is up to 500 feet wide. It's easy to see why our beaches are considered among the best in the world. Whether your day at the beach is to relax and read a book, cast a line into the surf, build sand castles with
your kids, or cruise along the shoreline with the top down, our beaches can accommodate your desired experience.
If two wheel or four wheel
action is more your speed, Daytona hosts the
Daytona 500 each February and in March thousands of motorcycle enthusiast
arrive to celebrate over 60 years of Bike Week.
Called "the Great American Race", 43 of the best race car drivers in the world take center stage in the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race.
If two wheels are more your speed, Daytona hosts "Bike Week" in
March and "Biketoberfest" in October.
In addition to thousands of motorcycles cruising the streets, the
Speedway has motorcycle races, both asphalt and motocross.
If you'd rather look at cars standing still rather than driving at 200
MPH, the Turkey Rod Run in November might be your cup of tea.
Thousands of hot rods and antiques descend on the city at Thanksgiving for a
spectacular show at the speedway.
However, Daytona is not just beaches and speed. Diverse collections unite at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (MOAS). Located in a beautiful 90-acre natural setting in Daytona Beach, MOAS is the primary art, history and science museum of Central Florida.
The Museum has over 30,000 items in its permanent collection including American, Cuban, African, English, Chinese, Continental and Pre-Colombian art, decorative art and paper; fossils, including a complete 13-foot tall Giant Ground Sloth; crystals, gems and minerals; remnants of Florida History, Spanish colonial items and photographs; and the Root family collection of Americana and Coca-Cola.
